Hello, I have recently installed Battlefield 2 and I have Vista and am having troubles with them together. I have tried running it on Xp Service Pack 2 (compatibility mode), running it as administrator, disabling User Account Control (UAC), and deleting the Battlefield 2 documents folder and yes, I have unistalled and reinstalled it. I cant even play single player- for single player after it loads all the way when starting a game/map it says verifying client data (like normal) and then it skips/repeats the sound its making (like a scratched CD) and then goes to desktop and it says the windows has encountered a problem crap, and for multiplayer- right when I join a server it freezes for a few seconds then goes to the same windows encountered problem error thing. It says I can run Battlefield 2 from System Requirements Lab with good speed. Does anyone know what the problem is? Or how I can fix it? It is hard to fix because most people with Vista get the splash screen and back to desktop thing at startup, but mine is different.

I've seen earlier posts, on this game in particular, that state that it has a lot of issues running when installed with Vista. Is there any particular error message you're receiving or just that Windows encountered a problem?

Ya, the only error I get is the windows encountered an error.

Have you tried downloading the patch from the Battlefield website? There is apparently a patch for Vista. Unfortunately, as I'm sure you've seen this game seems to have been plagued with problems from the start.

hello

what vista do you use 32 or 64 bit? i have heard last week EA DICE will release 1.50 patch of bf2 but now still on beta phase, i hope the final 1.50 patch will fix all the issue in bf2 and also both Vista 32 & 64bit ...1.5 patch support vista... coz the last patch 1.41 was released 2 years ago and does not support vista.

When i need help i always go and ask my gaming clan.

They all seem to know computers very well. They have even
helped me with problems like yours. Before i had a game
(battlefield 2142) and when i ran it in vista it would start up
then do just about the same thing but it would freeze. I asked
some people in there and they found a few solutions. And it
they actually worked. I myself cannot remember the exact fix,
but im sure they can
