Reply: (edit)Unfortunatly, i cant use online shopping, as ive no credit card, and im only 16, so i cant really spend on a new video card or a new computer. Does anyone know how i can rectify my problem by downloading something? I read on a different post that it could be a software problem. What if i tried to install windows 2000 or 98, would it help? Reply: (edit)Sorry, but you need a *real* video card...integrated graphics isn't gonna get the job done. You should have asked for a card for xmas rather than the games. $50 isn't all that much. Can't you get someone (parent, brother, sister, uncle, etc) to make the online purchase for you & then you pay them back somehow? Either in cash or by doing chores or something? This space for rent

Reply: (edit)Nope- no one in my family has a card. Anyway, the box said the game would run, and then EA's EZ utility said that it would run also. So why wont it run? Whats so bad about my grafix card? To be honest, im baffled that EA had the balls to say it would work, when it obviously dosent. Reply: (edit)You don't have a graphics card, you have integrated graphics...it's not the same thing. The minimum video requirement is: "32 MB video card which supports Transform & Lighting and with DirectX 8.1 compatible driver" The recommended is: "64 MB or greater video card which supports Transform & Lighting" http://compactiongames.about.com/cs/worldwariigames/p/bf1942_sysreq.htm The important thing is support for "Transform & Lighting" & Intel's integarted graphics do NOT support it: "IntelĀ® graphics products do not have hardware support for T&L. In most games, transform and lighting calculations can be performed on the processor with acceptable performance. A small number of games that specifically check for hardware T&L support may fail to run." http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-011910.htm Sorry dude, but if you don't install a *real* video card, you're not gonna play that game. And there'll be a lot of other games you won't be able to play either. This space for rent

Reply: (edit)Okay, listen to this. Do you live in Ireland? If you do, just try and find these in a retail store without having to go on the internet to buy it: FX5200 128MB/128-bit for $50 FX5500 256MB/128-bit for $83 If you dont live in ireland, you probably have a better chance. You try finding these cards her, and as for calling my card a low-end peice of crap, well just look at the two cards you suggested, theyre low end peices of crap too, there PCI for gods sake, of course theyre crap. Anyway, the card works perfectly with the game, and why would i need a 128 or 256mb card for my machine, the game only needs 32mb. Reply: (edit)All you have is PCI to work with, so I suggested the 2 best PCI cards that are currently available. You're missing the BIG picture. The R7000 technology is at least 5 yrs old & 32MB in this day & age is pathetic...you should never shoot for the minimum specs, you should always plan ahead. What happens when you wanna run a newer game that requires a better video card with more RAM & requires DX9 support? You'll be SOL again. You never once said you live in Ireland & why are you pissed at me anyway? It's not my fault you live there & aren't able to make online purchases. This space for rent

Reply: (edit)hellooo...the game requires 32mb, the card has 64mb. Anyway, whats the damn point in planning ahead with this hunk of junk? All i wanted was a frickin graphics card that i could run the game with, not a f---in SLI 128bit 256mb 450mhz+ monster with all the bells and whistles that can end up sucking my power supply. sheesh. Reply: (edit)One more time...you're missing the BIG picture! You spend $45 on a card that is over 5 yrs old, has an outdated GPU probably running at 166MHz, only 64MB of RAM also running at 166MHz (DDR333) @ 64-bit, & only supports DX7. At best, that card has a max data transfer rate of 2.7GB/sec. Technically, it shouldn't even run your game, but if it does, I doubt it runs it very well. BTW, the same card sells for about $35 US. The cheaper card card I suggested (FX5200) only cost $50 US. The GPU runs at 200MHz, 128MB RAM at 200MHz (DD400) @ 128-bit, & supports DX9. The max transfer rate is 6.4GB/sec. The FX5200 is as low as you can go in a card that supports DX9, but I guarantee the difference between it & your R7000 is like nite & day...all for just $15 more. FYI, the FX5200 isn't even close to being a "a f---in SLI 128bit 256mb 450mhz+ monster with all the bells and whistles that can end up sucking my power supply". As a matter of fact, that comparison is ridiculous...lol Oh well, I tried to help, that's all I can do...in the future, I won't bother. Good luck! This space for rent

Reply: (edit)I don't give a care how old you are or where you live or whether you have a credit card or not...if you wanted to do it right, you would have found a way. But just like the youth of today, you decided to go for instant gratification instead of putting a little forethought into the consequences of your actions. I'm not 16, I'm 3x that old & I've been building computers for well over 10 yrs...I think I have a general idea of what works & what won't, & what's a wise investment & what's not. You you came here asking for advice & didn't bother to take it...all you managed to do was waste my time & piss me off. Enjoy your 5 yr old $45 card...let me know how well it works when you try playing a REAL game with it. This space for rent

Reply: (edit)What, your saying that BF1942 isnt a real game? Look, i came here asking for help. I didnt ask you to give me a list of two video cards. I dont know why you cant understand that I couldnt have gotten any better card. My sister, who lives in another city, checked the shops around there for a card. NOTHING! My uncle, who works in a computer store in cork said they didnt have ANY pci video cards, and on asking his employer whether or not they could order some in, he promptly said NO. So, at the end of the day, even though it might have been a rash decision, i bought the only card that i could. Again, i dont know why you cant understand my situation. Reply: (edit)Like I said, I don't care what excuses you give...if you really wanted to do it right, you would have somehow found a way. Stores don't bother keeping much of a selection of PCI cards in stock...very few people use them anymore so why waste the shelf space? And special ordering one is a hassle. I'm sure any one of them could have gotten one if they really wanted to, it just wasn't worth it. BTW, some online sites will accept checks or money orders too, & there's always eBay. I only listed two video cards because there are ONLY two cards that are worth a sh!t in PCI format...the FX5200 & the FX5500, & they must be the models that use 128-bit memory. Admittedly, neither of them are all that great, but any the other PCI choices are worse. When it comes to graphics, PCI is dead & there simply aren't any decent cards being made for it anymore. BF1942 is an old game...it was released in the fall of 2002 & the system requirements aren't all that intense. Even so, you shouldn't be content to setup your system to meet the minimum requirements, you should at least shoot for the recommended...or better yet, exceed them so that you'd be able to play the next generation of games. What are you gonna do once you get bored with BF1942? You've locked yourself into playing older games. BF2 won't play with that card, neither will HL2, DOOM3 or Quake4...but they would with an FX5500/256MB/128-bit card. This space for rent
