Hi,

Im thinking of buying a new video card and just want to know which 1 would i be better off with, considering they are both the same price. I've done alot of research and read reviews between the bfg 6600 GT and the bfg 6800 OC and they are basically the same....6800 pulls away a lil on higher resolutions bcuz of its 12 pipelines vs the 8 on 6600 and alot of people have been sucessful on the softmod for 6800 to open up 16 pipes and 6 more vertex ones...they both are $250 and was wondering which one would i be better off with. i have a barton 2500 @ 3200, 512 PC3200...going to get 512 more s00n :).....would the 6800 get bottlenecked on my system?.....and which card would i be better off with in overall performance...any help appriciated.

Thanks

I'd say the 6600 GT..cheaper and the 6800 might be a bottleneck for your system. Both are good choices though.

Thanks for the reply...but the 6600 GT OC and 6800 OC are the both the same price $249.99....what would bottleneck it the ram? i dunt think it would be the cpu in any way.

not the ram for sure. it would be the cpu. just oc it and you should be fine if it does bottleneck it at first. the athalons have a ton of oc potential, expesialy if you use a water cooler(but we all know those ar kinda expenisve).

if you read my firts post it says "i have a barton 2500 @ 3200" its a 2500+ overclocked to 3200+...running @ 2.4 from 1.8 stock its overclocked to its full potential right now and i dunt think it could go anymore than that...unless i have a water cooling system.

If both are same price, might as well get 6800 NU.
