Attention Out of Range

I installed a relatively old game on my computer. It starts up nicely. I can hear everything going on in the game, but my Dell monitor goes black w/ a blue box that reads:
"OUT OF FREQUENCY RANGE
(red box, green box, blue box) Attention
Out of Range
H: 29.1KHz V:69.9Hz"
This only happens when I start up the game. Tell me how to fix it.

You need to set the resolution in the Games Options to either 640x480 or 800x600 or 1024x768 which most monitors will natively support......
