Subject: AtiTool won't installOS: XP ProCPU/Ram: E2160 (3.2Ghz)/2GB DDR2 R |
Comment: Alright, when I first built this PC it had no trouble installing ATItool, but that was on a different partition. I had a C drive for Windows, and an E drive for all the other crap. But it was too cumbersome to keep selecting which drive to install stuff to. So I merged the two partitions again and now AtiTool won't install. Here's the problem: Whenever I install, It says there was another installation detected, and it gives me three options, do nothing, repair/upgrade, or uninstall. Nothing does nothing. Repair/upgrade has an error since it thinks ATItool is still installed in the E: drive, and won't give me the option to install anywhere else. Uninstall does nothing. My GPU is an MSI HD3850 256mB, and it worked fine before. Help, please.

Reply: (edit)"had a C drive for Windows, and an E drive for all the other crap" Should have left it that way. "I merged the two partitions again" What did you use to merge the partitions? Did you remap the drive letters? "it thinks ATItool is still installed in the E:" You could try manually deleting the folder & searching your registry for any entries relating to ATiTool & deleting them. Do you have CCleaner? You may wanna try using that 1st. Run the Cleaner, then do a registry scan. Check the startup apps too. BTW, during the install, make sure to uncheck the box for Yahoo toolbar. http://www.filehippo.com/download_c...

Reply: (edit)"Registry has nothing on AtiTool" Really? Try running regedit. I just checked my own PC & there are dozens of ATiTool entries.

Reply: (edit)Yeah, I looked through all of that Software stuff in regedit a while ago, I see ATI stuff like drivers and Catalyst, nothing on AtiTool. I really want to get it to work, and not use the one I currently have which crashes when I OC it... Worked before though.

Reply: (edit)Alright it installed fine, but the find max core/mem is STILL causing my system to go into either a gray screen, or a striped purple screen... Hmm.

Reply: (edit)"Actually, I just found one!" Just one?? Are you using the "find" feature? Run regedit, click EDIT, then click FIND, make sure all 3 boxes are checked under "Look at", type in "atitool", then click "find next"...the 1st entry will come up. Press the F3 key to bring up the next entry, keep doing that until it says "finished searching". Like I said, I have dozens of atitool entries.
