An X850 out performs some of the X1xxx cards but not all of them. What is the difference between these two series’?

X850XT PE does not support SM 3.0 while all the X1xxx series support SM 3.0 and HDR... In order to compare X8xx series to X1xxx series, you must compare directly from X18xx to X8xx series for accurate result. You can't compare X8xx to X1300 or X1600 because those were target in the low end and mid range...

Hence

X300 is comparable to X1300
X600/X700 is comparable to X1600
X800/X850 is comparable to X1800/1900
