Hi guys, i bought this ATI Radeon x300SE for my PC and installed it fine, im installing the battlefiled 2 demo, and i realised on the back of the box it said, fully supports directX 9.X and openGL, does this mean it could support directX 9.C as well? its on the recommended list for bf 2.

The X300SE is a lame 64-bit card...when it comes to PCI-e cards for gaming, it doesn't get much worse. You should have asked your questions BEFORE you bought it. If you had been using onboard graphics, the X300SE is an improvement, but when it comes to gaming performance, you'll be disappointed.

If you're on a budget, the X550 256MB/128-bit card goes for about $60 at newegg & it's a much better card.

"This X550 from Sapphire has 256MB of memory, with 128-bit memory bandwidth. It runs with a 400MHz core and 250MHz (500MHz effective) memory. It is fairly obvious, that the X550 is little more than a speed bump of the X300, bringing it closer to the speed and specifications of
the X600."

for your question, yes it does support direct 9.0c, when it says 9.X it just means that the X can be updated anytime

The R9250 is another crappy card. Did you disable the onboard video?

I didn't answer the question about DX9 because the answer was so obvious.

As for how well the X300SE will play BF2...have a look at this chart to get an idea:

I'll show you. Look at the first chart. Your card is near the bottom if the list in it.

If you were to play the Doom 3 demo on your computer now, with the display set to resolution 1020x768, and graphics quality set to high, with antialiasing off and af set to 8x (all differt graphics options), you'd get around 13 FPS when playing (FPS= Frames per second).

In other words you wouldn't be able to play the game at an enjoyable rate. That's an average FPS rating as well. In times of battle in the game it'll likely drop a lot lower than that, making the game almost unplayable.

Now I would have though BF2 is on par with Doom 3 as far as graphics go. Your only hope to enjoy good FPS is to have every graphic option set to the lowest possible, and have the screen resolution set to 800x600. Otherwise you won't get fast FPS at all, and, you're boned.
