Not too sure what is going on , was playing a game and computer froze. I turned it off and turned it back on and i got a red message saying "you do not have radeon 9700 pro cable extension connected " and all my cords are in place properly and the computer worked fine up until now. I cant reach the login window at all , this is the first and only thing that pops up once i start up my computer. Using p4 dell dimension 8250 3.1 ghz 512 mb ram 111gb

Do you have to connect a molex to the 9700 pro. If so, I would check that, even if it is in place, take it out and plug it back in.

If that doesn't work, I'd lay odds your power supply is going bad. (Duh, right?)

yeah i'll check that out tomorrow, not really great with computers , just driving me nuts right now that i can't get into any of my files , my computer is unusable at this point. One person told me it might be a heating problem, a couple said to try to plug it back in again , so ill try a few things as i have gotten a few different answers. thanks a lot though guys, any more help would be GREATLY appreciated

Since you're getting the error about the cable, that'd be the place to start. The 9700Pro is a power hungry card & has to be plugged into the power supply. So as the others said, check that connection...if it seems OK, it could be your power supply is getting tired

ok thanks everyone for the help, i'll get to that as soon as i can. Another question though.. how come it won't let me boot into windows anyway? not even in safe mode or anything, i get that error and cant get passed it? anyone know? just curious
