Comment: Is this video card good? My knowledge in such things is very restricted, so it'd be cool to hear your opinion about it. Thank you.

Reply: (edit)Sure it is...it just won't play modern games. You'll want to limit gaming to about MechWarrior4 or so depending on the rest of your system. If you already own it, use it until you can't stand it anymore. I wouldn't go out and buy one though unless your system is pretty darn old. Skip

Reply: (edit)I see.. well, my system is not that old, it's actually quite powerful too (2.6 ghz). What would then a good investment be to be able to play modern games?

Reply: (edit)There are lots of new cards popping up on the market. I could recommend getting an NVIDIA card with the XFX chipset, there are still lots to choose from but that would depend on how much money u have to spend. Good Luck

Reply: (edit)the ati radeon 9800 pro is a good card for a cheap price. Also if you can get the right memory chip type you can get a firmware update from a 9800 to a 9800 pro.

Reply: (edit)Actually I have a Radeon Sapphire 7000 that is pretty good for games, depending on the resolution chosen. I currently play Max Payne 2, Call of Duty and Need for Speed 2 (among others) at 1024 X 768 with no frame freezes and smooth gameplay, for extended periods of time. Processor/FSB speed, hard drive RPM and Ram also play an important part. Reply: (edit)My ATI Radeon 7000 worked like a champ. I was able to play Max Payne 2 And UT03'/04' at medium/high settings. Still a great card if you ask me.Just dont expect to run games such as Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 at medium/high.
