Whats the difference between ATI 9800pro 128 and 256 ?? I've heard they are basically the same thing!! Anyone got a benchmark link? and why is there $100 difference?

They are basically the same. The difference in speed is not worth the extra $100. Take a look here http://www20.tomshardware.com/graphic/20030604/radeon_9800-04.html. That little extra fps might be important to some people, but not me! :P I got the 128 mb one. The reason it costs so much is because its new (thats the way things go in this world :/)

Well if you mean a regular 9800pro 256mb there is only the memory diff. If you mean the 9800xt256mb vs the 9800pro128mb there are a few differences. Cooling solution is better on the xt simply because it has to be. It is the same core as the 9800pro only at higher clock speeds. Same with the memory, I believe the memory is actually lower latency than the 9800 pro, allowing it to operate at a higher clock speed. There is only like a 7% difference in performance between the xt and the pro.
If you are considering purchasing a card I would recommend waiting for a couple weeks. The new series of cards are due for release next week and it will cause all the other models of ATI and Nvidia cards to come down in price.

I would rather pick the 128mb version instead of the 256mb version. The extra 128mb is only useful if you play games such as Farcry at 1600x1200 resolution w/ High AA/AF. Sometimes 256mb version use slower vram too, which explains why the 128mb version sometimes outperforms the 256mb version.
