They should be fine.. Farcry should be fine, I can play it on high detail on my aging PC, so you should be good to go.

thank you for replying.

have you tried playing FEAR? Company of Heroes?

because i've gotten those games recently, and the games are laggy on my FX5500 LOL.

"the games are laggy on my FX5500"

Of course they are. The 7600GT is a MUCH better card.

i have an x2 4400+, 2gb ram, and an overclocked 7600gt. FEAR will run at virtually max @1280x1024. with no softshadows. the 2nd gig of ram i added REALLY helped tho. load times and stuff was noticeably faster for me.

2GB RAM, would 1GB still run on high settings you think?

my athlon64 3000+ is kinda going old, but it should be sufficient =/

The CPU has a lot of life in it yet. You need to look at the system as a whole. Do you have a decent motherboard...preferrably one based on an nForce3 or nForce4 chipset? Is your RAM PC3200? Is your BIOS properly tweaked to best match your hardware? Is your PSU capapble of handling the load of a higher end video card?

i'm not quite sure, but it's a MSI K8MM-V, K8M00-CE+VT8237R chipset (from the booklet).

my RAM is DDR400 if that's what you mean.

if i remember correctly my PSU is 480W (that's all i remember).

& i'm not so sure on how to tweak to match the hardware..

- not a great board.

- DDR400 = PC3200, so you should be OK in that respect.

- just saying you have a 480W PSU doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot. The brand name & specs (amperage ratings) of the PSU are important.

- there are a number of BIOS settings that should be adjusted, depending on your hardware configuration. The performance difference between "BIOS Defaults" & a properly tuned BIOS can be considerable.

wouldn't have a clue.

like i said before that's all i remember, so that's all i said. i'm don't really noe much but it says, ATX AC Input 240V 50Hz 4A, +3.3V, +5V, +12V. the name is somewhere it shows a logo on the side but uhhh =S

okay thanks, i'll search around about the BIOS thing.

Having the BIOS setup correctly is important, but even more important is having an adequate PSU. Pop open the case & check the label. Post back with the make/model & the amperages listed for the +3.3v, +5v, & +12v rails.

As for the BIOS, MSI's "Cell Menu" is usually where the important settings are. Have you ever considered overclocking? I've had my S754 3000+ running at 2.5GHz since the day I got it & even tested it at 2.7GHz for a short time.

yeah i have thought about overclocking, but once i get the 7600GT tomorrow and we'll see from there..

so your S754 3000+ is OC'd at 2.5? even now? coz if it is, hopefully it'll work in a similar way as mine.

i don't get much, so i took a screenshot of the label at

I have a Venice & they overclock extremely well. Unfortunately, the Clawhammer does not.

Generic 480W

+3.3v = 19A

+5v = 34A

+12v = 19A

-12v = 0.8A

-5v = 0.5A

+5vSB = 1.8A

With the padding on the +5v lets just say you've got a 300W PSU here, also 19A (+12v rail) is on the low side of the type of Amps you'd want in a PSU that is to power a gaming system today. I would suggest that after getting the 7600GT, if you start to encounter all sorts of weird issues on the system - you should immediately upgrade to something more adequate.
