First of all, find out which version of the board you have. This should be written somewhere on the board. If you have version R2.00 or newer, along with the latest BIOS, then you should be able to drop in a Core 2 Duo.
ASRock claims that 1066MHz bus CPUs are supported by overclocking the northbridge. However, I have no idea how well the good old i865 handles bus speeds above 200/800MHz. Perhaps jam or Skip know...
For now, consider an 800MHz FSB CPU such as the Core 2 Duo E4600 (2.4GHz). Then, drop in a powerful AGP card like the Radeon HD3850. Not only will you have a system capable of any game at 1280x1024/high or 1680x1050/medium, you'll also be the envy of AGPers around the globe...lol.
