Hi. I've got a new Radeon X1650 Pro. When I play Battlefield2 or Battlefield2142 I get Artifacts at the start of the game when I first start playing (Black spikes). This only seems to happen at the start but all through the game, I get a kind of blur or jagged image when im moving using my mouse. It's not smooth as it should be. I've run the artifact tool in atitool for 1 hour and it hasn't found anything wrong. According to atitool, temp is 50'C idle and 72'C load. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Is your AA & AF settings jacked up too high?

I've tried it on all settings, from really high with AA and AF, to really low with no AA or AF. I took my card back to the store and exchanged it but I still have the same problems???

So it's not the card, nor the drivers - before we comment further, could you post some screenshots of this anomaly?

I would say that probably rules out the video card then. The other possibilities would be drivers (ATI recently released V7.1) or a weak PSU.

Sumvision isn't a household name around here...I don't know if it is where you are or not. I found it for roughly 10 GBP (12 inc VAT), that's roughly $20 US (w/o tax).

Ive tried to screeny it but because it's so sudden, I can't seem to catch it. I could video via fraps but those files are big. I've tried 2 sets of drivers both of which have the same effect. The PSU is budget, but its always been fine upto now and still is in all other departmens (video encoding etc), I get no errors anywhere else. The PSU has all the traits of a good one, i.e a 120mm fan at the bottom, 20/24 pin connector and 21 amps on the +12 rail.
