The 9550/9600 (128-bit version) WILL play those games, obviously not on the highest settings, but I suggest you set your sights (& price) a little higher. If you don't have an AGP slot though, you're pretty much out of luck for any decent gaming cards

Go to ebay.com buy a used radeon 9500 regular with L-shaped memory... Mod it into 9700NP and o/c it to 9700PRO speed... <$50+shipping... Way better than 9550/9600...

my bro's AMD Athlon XP 1800+ overclocked to 2200+ with 768mb of PC133 and an ATI Radeon 9550 256mb AGP runs FEAR...not great but it does run...
i think unless you are a seriously hardcore gamer who wants every fps you can possibly get a Radeon 9550 or 9600 256mb AGP would probably do you just fine, and can be found on eBay for relatively cheap
