Subject: An AGP Card DealOS: Windows XP ProfessionalCPU/Ram: Intel Pentium 4 rnning atModel/Manufacturer: Dad |
Comment: Okay, hey guys. I was searching on futureshop.ca and tigerdirect.ca (I'm a Canadian, eh??) and my dad knows quite a bit about computers and I remember vaguely anything he taught me. Anywho, I found an ATI RADEON X1300 AGP 256 Mb DDR. I want an AGP card so I don't have to buy a new mobo. And I'm getting a new computer in about another month. My dad is a kind-of-a-gamer I wants to play his favourite racing games. What surprised me the most was he was thinking about getting Auto Assault. He's like 55 and he's looking at roleplaying games! Off-topic but anyways what do you think of this card? My current PSU is a 350 Watt.Would I need a new PSU to go with this card? I can get away with it for 130 smackers. What do you think? http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10071794&catid=10524&PCName=Video%5FCards&logon=&langid=EN " I'm having such a hardware of a day! "

Reply: (edit)I'd shoot for an X1600Pro instead. X1300 is not a good performing card... "How many squirrels had to die to make you look fly?!"

Reply: (edit)Shoot for the Nvidia 7800 AGP card. If you want this system to game with the best games out there without having to worry about lag for 3 more years then get this card. That X1300 is going to be a waste of money. That's a higned budget gaming card and that card will not hang with the best games out there today without chopping your settings down to low not to mention the games that will come out 2 or 3 years from now. Well considering you didn't post how many amps you have listed directly under your 12v psu, then I don't know. But i'd shoot for a 450 watt ATX 1.0 that had at least 18amps or more. But if you are going to buy say an nvidia 7800 AGP then you will need to look for at least a 450 watt ATX 1.0 with 25amps or more. Reply: (edit)he is getting a new PC in 1 month? y buy a 7800 or x1600 AGP... its a waste. If u arent going to use this PC much after this month, buy a 6600 and live with a bit less graphics... u can get away with less of a PSU and when you buy new PC get a 7900GT PCI-E Card (Unless u cant afford it lol) TJ297 All Prices are in Auzzie Dollars =DAMD 3800+ 2 Gig RAM Nvidia 7800GT Thermaltake 430w PSU Antec LAN-boy Case Onboard Sound WOOOOT Surprisingly not bad :p

Reply: (edit)Read. "I want an AGP card so I don't have to buy a new mobo." The 7800 would be perfect if he is going to keep his motherboard for another 3+ years and doesn't want to buy a new motherboard. Reply: (edit)Consider 7600gs or 7600gt, those already been released by leadtek... As far as best deals, I only spent $59.99 + freeshipping on my MSI 6600gt AGP...
