Why would you not do a Core 2 Duo at this point?

I really can't recommend either CPU, but between those two, the Athlon 64 3700 would crush that CPU in gaming without any overclocking.

However, the 805 is quite the overclocker.

http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/05...

If you are gonna overclock, the 805 would be the better bet.

Still, with Core 2 Duo procs under $200, I can't see justifying the price of the 805.

No question the 3700+ San Diego but the Pentium D 805 is hell of an overclocker with the right supporting components - MOBO,RAM..........

If you can afford it, why not go for an extry level Conroe like the 6300 and a inexpensive board?

Between the 2 choices given, go with the 3700+ on a board based on the nForce4 Ultra or SLi chipset.

But if you can swing the Core2, that's where you should be headed....

thank you guys.
the problem about buying a core2 is because i cant afford it. i just can spend about 100 for a processor.
So, thank you for your opinion to make my choice.

"i just can spend about 100 for a processor"

But you're also gonna have to buy a motherboard (if you don't have a compatible one) & possibly a video card (PCI-e) & new power supply too.

Do the common sense thing and save up. don't buy something and turn around 6 months later and regret it. Save 80 more dollars up and go with an Core 2 Duo E6300. With the right motherboard and a good enough psu you will be able to overclock this cpu and turn it into a powerhouse.

LOL, it already is a powerhouse without overclocking.

yep, i want to spend around $500, now i'm just waiting all those things to arrive.
I think i made the right choice with the video card (less than 300), and im looking for a NF4 mobo and a 450-500watts power supply.

The E6300 is a fast processor stocked but it's not a powerhouse. Now if we are comparing the older pentium D's that started out the same price then it is compared to the 820.

Don't you love when people don't tell the whole story?

"I think i made the right choice with the video card..."

Care to enlighten us on which one you chose?

"...and im looking for a NF4 mobo..."

Make sure it's a nF4 Ultra or nF4 Sli, not a plain nF4.

"...and a 450-500watts power supply."

The power supply is the most important choice of them all. Don't buy cheap generic crap. Plan on spending between $50-75 for something decent.

got it, Jam. :)
I'll save some money and try to buy a good power supply and a good mobo.

The video card is a Geforce 7900GTO 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16

amd 64 better than pentiumD.

go for core2 duo if you willing to spend extra buck. core2duo outclasses if not on par with amd64fx. with better prices too.
