Ok well... i have a Ati 9600pro and it will not go onto agp 4x or 8x. the thing is that it used to, but i got my computer reformatted and now it wont. it is always on off. Someone told me it might be the BIOS. if it is then please explain how to fix.
Thanks. Ryan

I don't know why so many people format their HDD to fix a problem? This is an HP? There won't be very many BIOS settings to "tweak"...that's just the way it is with OEM systems.

Try downloading & installing the motherboard chipset drivers

"I don't know why so many people format their HDD to fix a problem?"

I'll list the reasons...

1. Hear it fixes problems for others, so they jump the gun.
2. Tracing down problems in software takes too long.
3. Lack of understanding about what is truly causing the problem.
4. Don't know how to fix problems otherwise.
5. To ensure full removal of all malware to eliminate zero day threats.

There are good and bad reasons, obviously, but remember most people posting here aren't trained or experienced enough to know when to format and when not to.

aliveatlast05,
Go into device manager and under "System Devices" there should be a "Via CPU to AGP 2.0/AGP3.0 controller.Assuming your motherboard is run on a Via chipset.
jam was correct in his statement about downloading motherboard drivers.

The one you want is "VIA Hyperion 4in1 drivers".
