Hey guys, I've been considering an upgrade to my graphics card to increase the performance of my system for a bit longer, and was just wondering if my current specs would be a nice fit for a XFX Nvidia 7600GT AGP.
Current specs:
Powmax 400W PSU. Model No. LP-8800DC ( +5V/30A, +12V/25A, -12V/.08A, +3.3V/28A, -5V/0.3A, +5Vsb/2.0A)
Intel D856PERL Mobo
Intel P4 2.8MHz, Northwood, 800MHz FSB
2x512mb RAM PC3200
Nvidia FX 5600
2x160GB Maxtor Harddrive
Windows XP Pro SP2My current graphics card has been great to me, but I've just been thinking about upgarding, so i'm asking around. Any other recommendations are welcome. Thanks!

I wouldn't upgrade to a better video card without getting an adequately dependable PSU. PowMax is not exactly a brand of choice for most people, when shopping for PSUs.

The 7600gt will work fine on your 400 watt powermax PSU. For my setup I only have an enermax 325watt noisetaker and it works flawless with 2 optical drives and 2 hard drives along with a prescott running at 4.0ghz...
TMP-ManAsus P5P800 PAT
P4 506 @ 4009Mhz 1.3v
Thermaltake CLP0024 w/ 1700RPM 92MM + AS5
2GB OCZ 2-3-2-5 DDR400
120GB/300GB 7200RPM HD
Leadtek 7600GT AGP 590/1600 VF700 ALCU AS5

"I only have an enermax 325watt noisetaker and it works flawless..."
Yes, but it's an Enermax which is a reputable brand name PSU. Powmax is cheap generic junk.

Thanks for the replies. I didnt really choose the PSU as it came with the case when i bought it some years back. Hopefully everything will work fine if I do go with the upgrade.

It's not the watts it's the amps on the 12v rail that counts the most. You can have a 500watt psu but if the amp on the 12v rail is weak then it doesn't matter how many watts a psu has. A 400w psu that has a higher amp rating then a 500w psu is better then the 500w psu.
That's the big myth about psu's. Higher watts = doesn't equal better, It's really higher 12v amps = better.

i have a lousy 240 watt psu. Im thinking of buying the same card...probably not eh?
if i cant buy a 7600 GT than what would my psu be able to support?
