i get this error when trying to start a demo game which i downloaded :

"physx hardware not detected! cellfactor requires ageia physx hardware, with runtime & drivers installed."

this is my system :
amd athlon 2500+
abit nf7-s
1gd cosair valua selectram cl2.5
ati radeon 9600xt 256mb

after doing some research on the web, it seem like i need some "ageia physx physic processing unit" in order to run it. is that a new brand of video card ? any work-around way i can play it without getting them?

Well, duh!.......LOL

Now to the OP, since you never bothered to look into what you demo requires, it is unfortunate you have to find out like this but CellFactor requires a PhysX accelerator card to play it.

If you do not know what a PhysX accelerator card is, I suggest you go to AGEIA's website.

thanks for the fast response....

in fact, i did read it's system requirements during installation. i was just trying my luck...lol. i was a little puzzled though, the minimum requirement for video card is a radeon 9700 pro. does it mean "ageia physx physic processing unit" in integrated into that card (and above)?

If infact you read it, you probably didn't understand it.

Cellfactor System Recommendations:

0 - AGEIA PhysX Accelerator (required)
1 - XP Home, Pro, MCE w/ SP2, AMD A64 or higher or Intel P4 2.5GHz or higher.

2 - 1 GB System Memory (RAM).
3 - Shader Model 3.0 Graphics Card (GPU) with 256MB video RAM.

4 - 2GB Free Hard Disk Space

This means you need a SEPARATE PhysX accelerator card in addition to a compatible graphics card in order to run the game.

my apology. i did missed out on the "hardware" part of the sentence.

http://www.3dgamers.com/news/more/1096485099/

"Minimum (Run "CellFactor Low Graphics" and change in-game resolution to 640x480):
1.5 ghz Pentium 4
512 mb system RAM
128 MB Radeon 9700 (game will scale down the Texture Size to 25%)
AGEIA PhysX "Hardware" with 2.4.9 driver installed

initially, i thought it was some "chip" or "feature" that's include in the video card...

i've just found this :

and btw, the physx is a card that takes the strain off the cpu. it allows more pixels on screen and stuff. makes everything look goodl. theres a way you can play the demo without the physx, but seriously, why? the game is practically made to show off the physx.

Do I hear an amen from the congregation? AMEN!
