I'm looking for a website with an overview or REVIEW of the multitudes of online game servers. Not all online games per se, but only those which host a variety of online games. Specifically, I'm looking for a review of FREE online game servers. (Or, at least a site that mentions the price up front.)

I know a person can get a lot of returns on "Game Servers" with a Google search. However, the results are nearly meaningless. There are just too many results and most of them are irrelevant. I can add extra serch terms like "free", but that still doesn't help. (Lots of sites include "FREE TRIAL" in their description.) I've tried looking for "Reviews" and "Top Sites", but still without much luck.

There are several games I'd like to try online. But at the moment I'm looking to see if I can get Civilization: Call to Power to run multiplayer. (Yes, I realise this is an ancient game and that there are more modern sequels.) Unfortunately, it seems incapable of connecting to the online game servers list - it remains stuck on "Searching for game servers." I suspect that Activision.com removed all the game servers it once had...

PS: I downloaded and installed aGSM (alternative Game Server Monitor) version 2.35c (updated to 2.51c beta). However, when I run this it does not seem to work. Apparently, it can't find any game servers either. I checked the website and the last update seems to be way back in 2004 - so I suppose this program has been abandoned too...

Call to Power servers are definitly abandoned. My bro used to play this game online up to when it was discontinued.

aGSM might not be finding any servers maybe beacause its being blocked.
Disable your firewall for the time being, and then enable it once you have connected to a server and are beginning to play.

It's unfortunate that they designed Call to Power in such a way that no 3'rd party sites could possibly host games. IMHO, that is deliberately crippling a game's long-term replay value. Most likely done to force players to "upgrade" to the latest version. They should be ashamed of themselves for that. Not everyone enjoys (or can afford) "trading-in" for the 'latest model' every year or so.

Already tried to connect without the firewall. Made no difference for me. Can anyone tell me if they can still get aGSM to work? I SUSPECT the aGSM server has been taken down and thus makes it useless. But I suppose it could be some sort of software conflict on my end...
