Comment: I was thinking of getting a 9800pro. The system requirements said that: "RADEON™ 9800 Series of products requires connection to your PC's internal power supply for operation. Consult your system builder or OEM to ensure your system has an adequate power supply. Otherwise, ATI recommends a 300-Watt power supply or greater to ensure normal system operation where a number of other internal devices are installed." Does this mean that if my power supply is over 300 watts, i will not need an internal connection?

Reply: (edit)No, it means that each device in your system use's a certain amount of power or watts. With the line of recent video cards that are out now they need 1 or 2 molex power connectors (the kind your roms and hhd have) to draw the required operational power (watts). So ati is stating that when all normal power using pc components are being used, a 300 watt power supply is the lowest rcommended rated psu that you should use to run your video card. huh?

Reply: (edit)They recommend 300 watt minimum. You could have a 600 watt unit, but you're still gonna need that extra +12v plug-in to the video card Asus A7N8X-X 1800+ @8x210mhz 512mb PC3200 Ti4200/8X 128mb WDC 60GB

Reply: (edit)what is 2 molex connector? Is that the power cord that connects straight to your power supply, and at the other end is split up to connect to the hard driver and the 9800pro?

Reply: (edit)Its the power cable that connects to your internal harwares (ex.HardDisk, CD/DVD Drive). The MOLEX connector has 4 wires in it. GeForce6800 series uses 2 MOLEX connectorbut the upcoming GeForce6600 series does not need any MOLEX connector (???) by looking at the reference design. Anyway All RadeonXx00 series uses only 1 MOLEX connector. P4TypeC 2.8GHz HT ASUS P4PEX/i845 1GB DDR400 RAM 40GB/80GB HDD GeForceFX 5600XT DVD/CDRW Drive Sound Blaster Live!
