OK, I am getting really irate now. My PC has been having random restarts and hangs for a very long time. I read recently to switch off auto restart and VPU recover (I have latest Catalyst drivers). I also set card back to AGP 4x, and turned off Fast Write, all to no avail.

Now, every time I play ANY 3D game made in the last 5 years for a while, my comp will either restart, hang or display a blank blue screen. I checked my error logs and have come up with this, every time:

Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 bfadb067, parameter3 b6cc6a24, parameter4 00000000.

The bit files are:
0000: 53 79 73 74 65 6d 20 45 System E
0008: 72 72 6f 72 20 20 45 72 rror Er
0010: 72 6f 72 20 63 6f 64 65 ror code
0018: 20 31 30 30 30 30 30 38 1000008
0020: 65 20 20 50 61 72 61 6d e Param
0028: 65 74 65 72 73 20 63 30 eters c0
0030: 30 30 30 30 30 35 2c 20 000005,
0038: 62 66 61 64 62 30 36 37 bfadb067
0040: 2c 20 62 36 63 63 36 61 , b6cc6a
0048: 32 34 2c 20 30 30 30 30 24, 0000
0050: 30 30 30 30 0000

Also, I noticed another prevalent error, I don't know if it is related:

The Cdfideuptdf service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

I don't have any idea what that service even is, let alone why it's broken.

Some help on this would REALLY be useful. It can't be heat, I have a giant fan blowing the crap outta my case and I have played around with numerous driver revisions so its not that, I also have a 450Watt PSU.

Heres my specs:
Gigabyte GS800 MoBo
P4 2.4Ghz 533MHz FSB
512 mB Kingston DDR400MHz RAM
Codegen 450 Watt PSU
Sony 16x DVDROM
Liteon 52x R/W CDROM
HIS Excalibur 128Mb Radeon 9700 Pro
Realtek Fast 10/100 Ethernet Adapter

I would run Prime95 to see if your CPU chip is generating errors:

Oops. That link is at least no longer valid, thus it's here:

If Prime95 scrolls an error message or Windows XP crashes during the Prime95 torture test,
your CPU chip is unstable!!!

OK, I will try this and see what happens although I have tried a few CPU tests before with no problems, but I will let you know what the results are.

Also, what does that service error mean? I still have no idea what that service is, and it doesn't show up on Google...

Cheers,

Well, well.

OK, so I ran this test and it seems that my CPU is the problem. It came up with this error:
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 04.
Hardware failure detected, check stress.txt file.

Well, there ya have it. My CPU is thouroughly ruined (correct me if I'm wrong). I will test my card in a mate's machine just to be sure, but at least now I have something to work off. Thank you Randy!

Cheers,
Skraeling
