Subject: 8800 GTS lag?
OS: XP Pro SP2
CPU/Ram: AMD X2 4200+, 1GB DDR
Model/Manufacturer: PowerSpec
Comment:
hi, im having a problem with playing bf2142, bf2, and GRAW...it seems like at the beginning of starting a round on battlefield 2142/2 it lags horribly but then eventually clears up ...im running these both on all high video settings

im very close to ordering 2GB dual channel hoping that this will eliminate these problems, i just bought my video card last week and it runs great so i dont think thats the problem, here are my specs

AMD 64 X2 4200+ (with gaming hotfix)
XFX Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB DDR3
1 GB DDR RAM PC3200
Windows Xp Pro SP2
Linksys Router/Netgear Adapter
520 Watt PSU

i disable zone alarm when playing any game and i kno there are no firewall issues or any dual core issues that i had before, anybody think its a RAM issue?

Yeah! that amount of RAM ain't gonna to cut it with majority of these newer game titles. When you get the additional RAM installed you shouldn't have that problem anymore & should you need additional help post back at that time.

Good luck!

awesome thanks, another question i have is: will DDR2 memory sticks be able to go into the same motherboard memory slots that my current DDR sticks are in? i know that there is a difference in the amount of pins ddr and ddr2 sticks have so im not sure if it will fit or not

i have four total slots and two are being used by 512 MB DDR PC3200 running in dual channel and im about to get rid of them and put 2 fresh 1GB sticks in just in case in the future i will have 2 more avalible slots if needed

You answered your own question. No, they cannot.

DDR2 and DD1 has different pin configuration. You have to get the same DDR1 and do multi channel instead. Too bad you bought DDR1 mobo in the first place. sigh!

2 x 512DDR (dual channel) BETTER than 1 x 1GB (single channel). If you can resell your 2x512DDR get another 1GB and do dual channel.

2 x 1GB DDR = 2GB (dual channel)
