Comment: I AM LOOKING FOR A GRAPHICS CARD BECAUSE I AM IN DEEP NEED OF ONE. I CURRENTLY HAVE A FX5200 (BAD CARD!) aNYWAY, I HEARD ABOUT THE 512MB VERSION OF IT AND SLI. I WAS WONDERING IF YOU BUY A 256MB CARD, AND THEN WAIT FOR THE 512MB TO DROP IN PRICE, IS IT POSSIBLE TO SLI TWO DIFFERENT CARDS WITH DIFFERENT MEMORIES AND SPEED.

Reply: (edit)Some of the specifications that I cjecked are slightly different. For instance some say the cards must be from the same manufacturer and others don't. However they must be of the same class (i.e. 6800 GT will not work with a 6800 Ultra). However I can not see any mention of anything saying the memory should be the same. But, with the SLI enabled I don't think you would get much of an advantage with only 1 card with 512MB memory. this technology is still fairly new and I would try to keep everything as identical as possible to avoid any conflicts. Reply: (edit)o I SEE, BUT DOESN'T SLI DOUBLE THE POWER. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/games-2005.html HAS A BENCHMARKING LIST THAT SHOWS THAT SLI CAN ALMOST DOUBLE YOUR FRAME RATES. BUT FOR NOW, A GTX 256MB IS POWERFULL ENOUGH.

Reply: (edit)i believe Sli video cards work like Dual Ram. you need 2 exact same model. if you use 1 with 512mb and 1 with 256mb video ram, i dont think they work. 3.2GHZ Intel Pentium EE 840 1GB Dual-channel DDR2-533 RAM Asus P5ND2-SLI Deluxe mobo 2 EVGA E-Geforce 7800GTX Creative Soundblaster X-Fi 550W PSU
