Hi everyone

Here is the problem. I bought two 6600 GT AGP cards exactly the same time and place.

I got home installed mine with da new nvidia drivers, put FEAR on and it works like a dream. Ive experienced no problems. Got a P4 2.6, 1 Gig Ram, Genuine Intel MoBo.

Then i went and installed the other one in another machine. P4 3.2, 1 Gig Ram, Genuine Intel MoBo. Also seemed to not have a problem. Its running a monitor from the VGA connector as primary and an LCD as secondary from the DVI.

I installed the standard drivers that came with the card. It ran King Kong, NFSU 2 and Tomb Raider fine, however FEAR (when you start a game) and strangely Quake 3 (lags so bad) gave the following error:
"microsoft windows detected and recovered from a device failure. Please reboot to restore full functionality."

To try sort it out i uninstalled the old drivers and installed the new ones. First FEAR got into a new game fine, i left it and when i came back in the same problem occured in both fear and Q3 again.

Im outta options besides testing the card on my machine and seeing if its a card fault or summing else, but that is a mission (cause da machine is far away) so if anyone could suggest a few options to try or maybe tell me what might be wrong, it would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks alot

Run driver cleaner & afterward run Windows disk cleanup and reinstall the latest drivers for the card from nVidias website.

You should also make sure you have the latest drivers for your motherboard's chipset installed.

Lastly you may have to lower your game details with regards to F.E.A.R in order to have the smoothest gameplay on either rigs.
