By all accounts the 6600GT card is an excellent card. Thanks to some research and advice from folks on here i bought one. However when installed i couldn't get it to work properly, despite trying all suggestions i got on here and other forums (drivers, PSU, etc). From what i have found in loads of net forums there are many, many, many people having compatibility issues with these cards. After 10 days of frustration i gave up and took it back and swapped it for an ATI9600XT, not as powerful i know but slightly cheaper, i plugged it in and have had zero issues with it since. Running HL2 on high settings and it looks incredible(specially water,,wow).
Anyway, i'd like to say thx to anyone who gave me advice/help while trying to decide which card to get/trying to fix the damn 6600gt.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Wow, don't let Mitch read this, his mind would implode! Aw, crap. He'd just say it's your "crappy" Intel CPU.

No, seriously, the 6600GT's are fine cards. Post next time here, and we might be able to help you get it working. Glad you're enjoying your gaming experience now.

Yep its the AGP card, not the PCI. Like I said, a lot of folks seem to be having problems with these cards(by all manufacturers), and it seems to be a compatibility issue with motherboards(i spent a loooooot of time trawling the net during my battles with it).

I did post here when i started having issues with it(and mitch DID tell me it was my crappy Intel CPU, LOL) and I'm sure had i stuck it out i could have eventually got it going with the help from folks here, but i just got sick of it and went for the easy plug'n'play option. Anyway, cheers.

Hey, misinformation of that magnitude is a little much. I was civil in how I refuted his arguments. :-D

psycho, that bullcrap. I just haven't been on the net recently, and forget about your posts having power over me. That's lame. Wait, maybe I just didn't read your comebacks. Still, I don't care what you think, and I still stand on what I said about AMD and nVidia, however I regret being overzealous and sounding like a maniac. I should've rephrased my statements, however...
The 6600 is probably a good product, I'm just guessing it's defective, was it shipped? I thought my 5700LE was a piece of junk, until I realized it was damaged in shipping, which I then had it replaced. But now it works great, running all my games and at sky-high framerates.
But maybe you're right, I haven't any experience with the 6600; I've just have never had any trouble with nVidia video cards. But still, I don't think it's a good idea to go ATI. But whatever, your loss.

Who the hell is "we"? Oh, so you're a split personality. Becareful everyone: this one's a psycho.

I know you never said those EXACT words-I was refering to this:
"Haven't seen him post anymore after I refuted all his other recent posts."
Like you have a part to play in me not posting for a while. You're a psycho to think that. psycho.
