1GB the least. more application (especially games) uses A LOT of memory spaces. because of more complex texturing and poligon count. now even 1GB is considered as bare minimum. get more if you can.

When i run Battlefield 2 it uses about 1.2GB all by itself. That doesn't include the memory needed by the OS and other processes.

I run Bf2 on 512mb, and its runs fine, but 1 gig atleast for the best performence, 512mb will suffice for most games nowadays, but dont expect great performence.

512 will NOT suffice for most games nowadays. Like mentioned before, 1gig is the BARE MINIMUM for good performance, and many games (like BF2) are gigantic memory hogs which run much better with 2 gigs of RAM (such was the case with my system and BF2).

This will only get worse as the years pass, so don't skimp on the memory. Contrariwise, too much memory for today's apps (more than 2 gigs) is overkill and will mostly go unused.

I wish my lawn was emo so it would cut itself.
