That's normal. Athlon X2's tend to perform slower than Core 2 Duo's on 3dMark06 and the 8600 GTS is not bad at all, but its no monster of a video card either. 3dMark is just a benchmark, its just a show off contest =P your system is more than enough to run the latest games at high resolution and great image quality. There are people with above 20,000 scores, with nitrogen cooling and Quad-Core Extreme processors, SLI 8800 Ultra's hardware overclocked to the !@#$.. some people just got money to burn I assume. Tom's Hardware lists an SM2.0 score of 2983 using a system better than your's (Core 2 Extreme X6800) with the test settings at "1024x768x32, no AA, Trilinear Filtering, Default Quality". http://www23.tomshardware.com/graph...
