Subject: 3D Games Run Slow
OS: Windows XP Home SP2
CPU/Ram: 1GB (2x512)
Model/Manufacturer: Philips / iQon
Comment:
Games on my computer, of which are 3D, run rather slow..
I bought my computer a while ago, cost me £750, at the time was good but now its a ripoff.
I can play this one game, quite easily, but often it runs choppy and slow.

The min specs for this game are:
OS: Win 98 or later.
DX: 9.0c or later.
CPU: P3 500Mhz.
Memory: 256mb
Graphics: Direct3D 9.0 Compatible
Sound: Direct3DSound Compatible

My Specs compared to those are:
OS: Windows XP Home Edition (SP2)
DX: 9.0c
CPU: Intel Celeron 2.93Ghz
Memory: 1GB
Graphics: SiS Mirage 651 32mb/166mhz clock (The problem?)
Sound: Compatible.

*Offtopic* Does anyone know how to fix a lag issue with svchost.exe? Mine sometimes hits max cpu and over 110,000mem usage, I've checked for viruses and spyware etc, nothing.

Yes, that's the problem. You don't have an actual video card, you're using integrated graphics. And to make matters worse, they're crappy SiS integrated graphics.

If this is a desktop machine, find out what upgarde slot you have available & buy yourself a video card. If you're asking about a laptop/notebook, you're sh!t out of luck.

Thanks Jam, I went out and bought a nvidia GeForce 6200 video card, I can't afford much being I'm only 14 years old on a budget, but the difference is amazing, especially after I overclocked it.

Many more thanks for link, also useful :).
