Hi, i am thinking of getting another gig of OCZ memory(for BF2, heard you could get better gameplay with more than 1G).
I currently using 2x512MB PC3200(CAS3)Kingston Memory in duel channel mode. But this OCZ memory i am thinking about is a pair of PC3200 Premier Series Dual Channel DDR Kit (2 x 512MB) CL 2.5-3-3-7 Timings,
Will this OCZ pair be force to use the same timings speed as the Kingston pair or not? Or am i am thinking in the totally wrong direction?

Thank,

Leuk.

Hello
OCZ is some nice ram.
Chances are, your OCZ ram will run at the same speed as the slower sticks.
(unless your motherboard can have 2 pairs of different timings?)
What are the other specs of your system like, CPU, and video card?
if you have a computer as junky as mine... that much ram isnt going to make a big difference.

I got 1xddr266, and 1xstick of ddr333. the 333 runs at 266 though =(

So they will be forced, yes.
1 GB of ram should be enough?

Hi,
Thanks for the fast reply!=)

My specs are:

AMD 64 3500+ Newcastle
Gigabyte K8NS Ultra-939 Motherboard
eVga 6600GT 128mb (AGP)
Kingston PC3200 CAS 3 2x512MB in Duel Chann
Audigy 2 Value Sound card
WindowXP Home Edition

I have heard OCZ makes great memory, but at where i live, they only have it in store at very late stage, compare to the other cities. About a year ago, here the PC3200 price drops!! And only a month ago, they got this pair of OCZ CL2.5 on special for $135 canadian, which seems godly to me, the cheapest 512mb memory is 60 bucks, and it's only CL3!, And for 15 bucks more i could get a OCZ with CL2.5, and it comes in a pair wrapped with copper heatspreader!
I don't know much about overclocking, and my MOBO seems lack of those options in the bios. Or i just don't understand them.

Thanks,

Leuk.

Can you back that up with a reputable website (i.e. not a forum)?

Hi,Jam.
I can't back that up, because i saw it on nvidia forum or somewhere, that ppl claim they got a very long loading time, which they already got a gig of ram. But by adding another 512mb stick, their loading time got faster. But who knows what else they are running along in the background with BF2 on. I try'd the demo, and when i set most things on high, it takes a while to load and it's laggy to play the game, medium setting fits my specs better..

Hope that explain a little.=)

I hate to say it but BF2 looks and plays like crap no matter what your system is, you would think that a game with recommended specs that high would be like watching a movie.

As a matter of a fact i don't think i have seen one person praise BF2 for performance or graphics.

Hi,i agree with you in some cases houston1981.
Because i havn't got the retail BF2 yet, i can't say for sure BF2 is crappy, but the demo seems alright to me, atleast the terrain is very "colorful".
But just yesterday, i got the game "Guild war". Because all the screenshots and the retail box images looks too good to be true! It's like a watching a movie or something. But after playing the game...it just seems like lack of something..
Oh well,wth... the screenshots on my Joint Operations game box isn't even close to the same thing as the gameplay either...a bit misleading..
