in my laptop ASUS X71SL,having WINDOWS XP2 installed, I can't get rid of a yellow exclamation mark in manager, near 1394 net adapter; sought for driver, but nothing found; at the same time the sound in speakers is crackling, and in winamp can't ajust the sound tonality - very frustrating! typing "eventvwr.exe" in start/run I found a lot of errors marked with red. What can I do? please help

... when I typed "error asus X71SL 1394 net adapter" into google I found... ... "Fix 1394 error in XP OS" which pointed to bios flash update http://support.asus.com/download/do... ... if its not bothering you I'd leave it unless you're using firewire(?) etc ... if you had made recovery disks for your laptop then flashed the "bios" the recovery disks may not work! ... I'll leave it up to you first check to make sure that the new bios software is newer (dated in bios) ... good luck! ... <F2> @ bootup . . ...
