Lately ive been having some display troubles. As a part of troobleshooting a game I attempted to install the latest Ati Radeon driver for my Radeon 8500 LE. When I try to install the driver, however, I get the following error:

Severe
Setup was unable to complete the installation.
Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA adapter before running setup.

This leaves the adapter disabled with no driver. Ive tried deleting the adapter and redetecting it at startup, but the error remains. Id try installing "a standard VGA adapter" but i dont know how to do this in XP. Any help is very appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, Linda.

Ok, ive been working on this all day. VGA mode startup doesnt help, nor does a complete uninstallation of the previous driver files. I also tried the Omega drivers and they have the same error. Whats going on here?

Hi MrStabby.

Maybe try installing the driver in Safe Mode.

I might be wrong but i belive that Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Can help you guys out. Its Free on the Windows Update website. If you have it already, try to re-install it.
