Hi, I'm looking for the drivers for the Microsoft Sidewinder 3d pro (Non USB).
I've looked in the Microsoft Downloads Centre database and in the Sidewinder database, but it wasn't there. Bit strange though, Microsoft not looking out for their own products.
Anyways, if any1 can get me those drivers I'd be ever so greatfull.

Twisted,

I'm looking for the same thing: Windows XP driver for Sidewinder 3D Pro joystick. Can't find it anywhere. I had to buy a 15-pin to USB adapter just to plug the joystick into my new computer. I may be in double trouble. If you find this driver, would you please let me know where? Eventually, I will probably give up and just buy another joystick. But, if it comes to that, I will try my best to avoid Microsoft. If they won't support their own products, they don't deserve our business.

Thanks,
Mike

I have the old school version of Sidewinder Gamepad. Not the 3D... I called up microsoft's tech support and they couldn't give me a reason as to why the drivers weren't suported by XP.. Well.. The drivers Are supported (They're supposed to be at least.. who knows), it's the software that isn't.

Please email me if you find out anything. Seeign as Microcrap has their heads up their asses, it looks like we're on our own.

Thanks,
Trag

I'm looking for Sidewinder 3d pro drivers for windows ME, having just upgraded to ME.but as yet I have had no luck. It seems Microsofts interest in support for users of the sidewinder joysticks is zero which, in my book means as an outfit they can be summed up in one word. CRAP.

Help from anyone will be much appreciated.

I was able to have Windows XP recognize my MS Sidewinder 3D Pro...

Go into Control Panel
Click Switch to Classic View
Double click on Game Controller
Click Add
Find Microsoft Sidewinder (Auto Detect)
Click OK

Everything works for me. By the way, I don't know if this matters or not, I have the switch at the bottom on the "single dot" - can't remember if it means digital or analog (seems to remember somewhere someone says it only works in analog mode?! not sure though)

I calibrate the joystick and all the button works.

Apparently, you don't need to download a driver - may be that's why you can't find it anywhere?!!!

Hope this help

Yes the drivers for legacy (read older than 2-3 years) are part of the XP OS, but Ms in their infinite wisdom is not going to provide software to create or edit custom profiles. My understanding is that v3.02 will not work with XP. Has anyone had any experience trying to get profiles to work?

Well yes I am in the same boat as a few I would say. Yes it does detect the Sidewinder when you flick the little switch.
But after about 3 mins it stops working.

Weird !

I have got Windows XP professional & am having problems with MS sidewinder wheel & pedals. It recognised the thing & installed a basic driver for it, but nothing like the proper sidewinder control software I had with Win98. I need to get this software, to alter some options to get Rally Trophy working!!

I have tried MS download centre but there are no drivers for WinXP. Does Ne1 know where to get them??

When I finally got around to playing with my Sidewinder Precision Pro wiht WinXP, I had the same problems. XP would auto-detect it but it would stop working in about 3 minutes into the game. Also as you know, the sidewinder software would not work with XP. After searching google, I found this site: http://www.driverforum.com/inputdevice/2591.html
I followed the instructions but I installed version 4.0(for my wheel). Version 4.0 is only for the Sidewinder wheel so I never had any adjustments for my joystick. Also, the joystick would stop responding after about 15 minutes of game play instead of three.

Then I remembered that the Precision Pro touted USB compatibility. It turned out that it was a gameport->USB adapter. It never worked with Win98...NEVER. So I through the adapter on XP recongnized it and viola...It worked. I can't believe that my joystick finally worked. I still have no adjustment for it. I am going to try v.3.02 of the sidewinder software to see if I can get adjustment for it without losing adjustment for my Force Feedback Wheel. We will see.

*NOTE*: All of this was tested with only one game, Motocross Madness 2. I will try other games today.

I have a Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro Plus and cannot get it to be recognized in Win XP. I tried everything listed on this page in the game port and with the USB adapter adn nothing works. Any other suggestions on how to make this thing work. It worked fine in 98 with the Sidewinder software.
