CPU/Ram: 1.496 GHz / 446 MB
Product: Fujitsu siemens / Amilo l series
Subcategory: General
Comment:

Same problem. WIRELESS. No wireless icon on desk-top. Pressing Fn and F2 does nothing. Been to Fujitsu-Siemens site and down loaded chipset and wlan. Cant get wlan to go in and chipset has no effect.Could this problem be rooted in the harddrive set-up? In 'All Programs" Start-up comes up as empty. As I no nothing about computers is there any-one out there who can tell me why I cant simply unplug and go wireless ?Going nuts trying to figure it out!!!!!!

Its the Amilo L7300 notebook and the wireless was working before I loaded windows xp home edition. The reason for the re-loading of xp was that when I first got this computer there were no less than THREE copies of it on the start up page and very little memory. I thought that by doing a re-load I could set it back to just one copy..which it now is. The wireless is embedded and only required the pressing of the Fn & F2 buttons to switch it on and off. Like I have said I have tried to load the wlan download from the F/S site but it just will not work. I have also tried their 'chipset' with the same result. Is the problem in the hard-drive settings?

It was working but then I noticed that on the start up page there were 3 Windows xp home editions which were using all my memory.. so I reloaded xp after clearing the others and since then no wireless. Anyway, I have tried to install FSC_NetworkVIARhineIIFastE...by going to winsetup windows network adaptor set and that says that the ethernet adapter is installed but not according to the device manager which is still saying NO DRIVERS .

further info:

... Windows XP: SP2 should be installed WLAN-Switch at the notebook-case:

... Turn on the switch or press key-combination to make the WLAN-LED light.

...You eventually have to install PowerManager or LanchManager (from the Driver&Utility DVD)

update drivers:

http://www.amilo-forum.com/topic,23...

... Activate "Wireless Connections" Scan for Networks:
If possible use the client-application of the driver

... If you haven't done it yet, update your driver. Also try the driver from the manifactor since these are often newer than the ones from the Fujitsu-Siemens-Computers

... Deactivate the MAC-filter (just for testing) at your router
Re-enter WEP/WPA-key. Be careful e.g. with I (tall i) and l (small L) - there doesn't appear an error with a wrong key, it just doesn't work.

... Eventually deactivate the encryption.

... Update the firmware of your router, if the steps above didn't work.

... Phew !

But, I was trying to work out what drivers to export and then import..but chances are I would have made a complete hash of it. I think it may be best if I installed pack 3. The combination of Fn & F2 switches on the green light but with no driver it just aint gonna work......wheres my Walther PPK!
