When going to the Windows Update site , under drivers it list a driver update for my ATI Graphics card. I was aware of a need for a driver update , however Iam confused because this driver update from the Windows Update site , downloads and installs the updated driver , the ATI site instructions on installing a driver update , directs you to frist remove the current display driver via Add Remove in the Control Panel. I also have ATI's TV WONDER USB Edition installed and working . Both my ATI RADEON Graphics card (PCI, no AGP Slot on M.B.)and the TV WONDER installed the ATI Multi-Media Centers however they are differant versions -7.0 & 7.1 ? ATI informed me that conflicts will occur when both Multi-Media Centers are installed ,and I should install new version 7.4, however in my situation this is not the case . Iam not recieveing any conflict errors ? Also I have the Bel-Arc advisor installed , it list both Multi-Media Centers , when I click on either version Iam taken to the same folder ? The directions from ATI for removing the Muti-Media Center applications are very confusing and even involve registry editing , something I do not have much exp with .In Add Remove programs there is only 1 listing for the Muti-Media Center ? I hope someone will tell me what they think I should do .I currently have DirectX 8.0 installed, if the new driver requires DirectX 8.1 , should I not install that B/4 the new driver ? I have been told to install 8.1 after the driver update? .One more ? ,if I remove the current Display Driver via Add Remove Programs in Control panel , how will my display work without a driver untill I install the updated driver ? Sorry about the longwinded post , I have been waiting to move forward with these updates out of fear of making a very stable system , unstable ! Thanks in Advance to All, Nick
