i have a packard bell club 30 machine i had Windwos 98 installed.with a packard bell 1015 monitor with Screen reselution 800x600 display adapter was SiS 5597/5598.it had 16 Colors(High Color)but when i formated my hard drive to install Windows Me the Display adapter changed to Standard Display Adapter.The Screen resilution is now 640x480.i dont know how to change it back.i Suspect i need more Display Drivers. Please help Me

Ian if you go into display settings and go to where it says Standard VGA adapter. Change this to the name of the graphics card that you have. If it doesnt automatically detect it change it by selecting it from a manual search. You will probably have to restart for the new settings to take effect. You can then change the pixels on you screen back to 800x600

I'm having a simmaler problem, I just installed Windows ME on my laptop (old but it works), I got my network installed, so my internet comes with that (cable), then I go to change my res, and I cant, and I cant change any display crap. I went to install drivers, and I seached every cd I got, manually to, and I still couldnt get it to work, it keeps coming up with the same one in the windows directory, and with that one I cant change n e thing. can anyone help me?

Oh yeah, my display driver is currently "Standard PCI Graphics adapter (vga)" well at least thats what windows says.

I also, dont have any of the drivers for it. So I might be in some deep @(#$

Hi, I am using the same video card (SiS 5597/5598) which is how I found this site. I am in a similar dilhema, I recently installed Windows XP, and can now only set my monitors resolution to 640x480. Wheras in Windows Me I could set it to 800x600 in 16bit color. Now if I want to set my monitor I have to go into the advanced properties in display setting and cick "list all modes" and I can only choose 800x600 if I want 256 colors. Does anyone know anything I could do? I have the correct driver installed so I am really confused. Thanks, Mike
