Reply: (edit)Have you tried to mail Star (homepage: www.star-micronics.co.jp and click on the tiny "english"-button)? The newest are win95-drivers from 1996.
Anyway, you can by a new printer for the price of new tones to that old thing! :-)

Reply: (edit)I have trawled the net for two days now with no luck, Star's home page is next to useless - in the meantime, while I suppose I can buy a new (Inkjet ?) printer for the price of the toner, it (Toner) has lasted three years and with new toner, is still turning out the pages as crisp and fresh as ever - so any help in locating XP driver is greatly appreciated - Thanks BJK

Reply: (edit)I don't think you will have any success. I never managet to find a driver to work on NT4 or windows 2000. The fact that it is a GDI Printer seems to mean you are stuffed. I must admit I am disappointed with star as this has been a greatprinter, reliable, good quality etc and it seems to be a shame to consign it to the dustbin due to the lack of a driver. One option is to use an old pc to run the printer and set your main system to print to post script files. These are dumped into a designated directory and you have to write a little prog to pick up the file from the directory and print it via the old machine. This does work but is a little cumbersome I admit

Reply: (edit)I have contacted star and they told me the software company that useto write the drivers for them has gone out of business. There will be no drivers for Windows XP.

load WT409501.exe and WR9502.exe from
http://www.star-micronics.co.jp/service/driver_e.htm
This driver worked more than 2 years on my PC But I'm also searching for a driver for Windows 2000 without any success. I just sended an email to star-support (without any hope, but we will see). I thing everybody should do so. To show star that the wintype 4000 is not dead.
