Comment: Help!!! please..... this is my dad's computer and of course all problems are my fault. There is no sound working. How can I diagnose and fix the problem. I will be forever greatful for any help. Thanx!

Reply: (edit) what os? if it's xp got to xpmaina.co.uk it has the latest via ac97 drivers... or have you tried using windows update? also use device manager to work out what driver is already used, to see if it's already installed but not running.... ie if it's installed but not working properly, it'll have a yellow exclamation mark, if it's just plain wrong, then it will have a red cross... :-)

Reply: (edit)My motherboard has on board sound. (VIA AC'97 Audio Controller WDM)... I installed Windows XP Pro, and my sound has static and skips in it. I updated the bios, and the sound drives to the newest versions, and it still does it. Is there a freak'n way to fix it w/o getting a new sound card?? Nothing I seem to do works!! Somebody help me!! I'm out of PCI slots, I don't have room for a sound card! If you can help me, I'll hook ya up real nice with something ya need computer related!!
