Due to the fact that my CD-ReWriter has recently stop functioning, I've decided to purchase myself a DVD-ReWriter (BenQ DW1640) in its place.
I own a Sony Vaio (PCV-RX730), and because it isn't meant to be customized and tampered with, I was recommended to buy an external enclosure for the DVD-ReWriter instead, and hook that up through a USB 2.0 port.
The only ports available on my computer were a few USB 1.1 ports, which lead me into buying a USB 2.0 card with 4 external ports and 2 internal ports. After installing that into my computer, I plugged in all my hardwares, believing my troubles would end there.
But instead, I receive another error. My scanner and webcam, whom are also plugged into my new USB ports, are functioning as they should, so I don't think my USB card is installed incorrectly. But as for my external enclosure, which is read as a "Mass Storage Device", I receive a "This device cannot start, Code 10" error.
I receive this same error with or without the DVD-ReWriter being hooked up to the external enclosure. And when I plugged the external enclosure back into the USB 1.1 port, the only error it gave me was that it needed to be plugged into a USB 2.0 ports because it needed to run on a Hi-Speed port.
I run on Window XP and I have all the latest Window Updates. I cannot understand why it is not working.
Please help!
