Well, generally you can update drivers from the internet knowing what brand of video or audio card you have. Go to the web site of your driver and click support and it should tell you if you have any updates for that driver.

Say if you have a Diamond Viper v770 ultra video card, find the web site address on the cd or box it came in, type that in to your address search. When you get to that web site click on the support tab. There it should tell you what drivers are available for updating. Most of the time it seems they are available but it's harder to get updates for xp depending on how old your drivers are. Also, if you can't find a web address, I just type in the name of the driver and the word "update" in search and most of the time you can find updates this way too. It's also good to make sure you keep your computer up to date with WIndows Update in your help and support page you can get from your start menu.
