Hi. I have a little problem. two days ago i was surfin the net and opened a news file on a entertainment site. Almost as soon as i clicked the link the comp went to black screen. The comp then started doing its blue screen scan disk. After this the computer then turned its self off again. I started up as normal and have not been able to get past the scrren that says windows could not load as the following file system32/drivers/pci.sys apperas to be missing or corrupt. Help. I dont have a copy of xp but i have ordered a copy of xp pro as my thinking was whack in the xp pro disc and let it repair and upgrade in one! My other idea is to take my hard drive in to a working pc and set my hard drive as slave and browse my hard drive to insert the apparant missing file in the desired spot. My final idea is to take all the info i need off the hard drive and then completly flatten and delete everything and instal a new OS ie xp pro? Can anyone advise me on which is the best idea or does anyone have a better idea. Do bear in to mind that i cant actually get on to windows or get past the pci.sys message at all and am now reliant on a friends laptop. Please help if you can.
