stuck at 16bit color need 24 bit

It also wouldn't hurt to download and install the Microsoft DirectX 8.0a multimedia drivers.
24-bit and 32-bit color is really unnecessary for most people. 16-bit color will most likely do fine for you.

"16-bit color will most likely do fine for you." I thought this was true for a while but have just finished some research about 16bit vs 24bit colour in relation to Web Browsers. Basically 16bit cannot display any of the 216 websafe colors, so can cause graphic problems. Great article at WebMonkey on this issue. http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/00/37/index2a_page5.html
