Alright bare with me. Ok i was cleaning old files off of my computer and when i restarted my speakers and all my songs in windows media 10 were deleted. I dont really care about the songs but not having sound is really pissin me off. i know the speakers are in the right plug-in and i know they work because i can plug in my MP3 player to them and they will work fine. i think i removed a program that supported them but i cant remember what it was called. the speakers are Multimedia Speaker Brand and the model is SP - 60. I also know that my computer isnt on mute. I am the computer admin and i know quite a bit about computers but this one has stumped me. this is the first time ive turned to a support site so if you could help me out it would be great.
ok well i tryed that and there is a yellow warning box by "AC'97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller". i have tried multiple times to re-install it but i am continually having the same problem. I also looked on another forum sight and it said that this problem is almost nearly impossible to fix. Thanks, jake

Sure, reinstalling the soundcard drivers may be what's needed, although those 'warnings' usually come with an explanation as well, for those wishing to find out 'why?'
Lucky me - I received a PM from the OP:
"it says that my multimedia audio controller isnt configured properly"
Well, try and configure it properly seems like one avenue to explore. Possibly removing the entry and rebooting would allow Windows to reconfigure the device

Otherwise... as I'd mentioned via PM, choosing the right forum can make a difference, this one's pretty quiet, and is focussed on drivers - - try putting a detailed description of your issues in the WinXP forum, where more folks will read it
