I think this might be what your after http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=273

One of the chips listed it different VT8233A Vs VT8367. Since the drivers are for two boards it could be that the listed chip is from the other supported. Anyhow worth a try.

Uhg. I don't think this nightmare will ever end. Thanks for the try though.

Did you only try the sound drivers or did you try the 4 in 1 as well??

My suggestion would be to try the 4 in 1 first and then try the sound drivers.

I also just read VT8367 is VT8233A pin compatible so this should cause no problems.

Yes, I downloaded the 4-in-1 drivers aswell. Nothing is working for me. I have the Yellow question mark beside PCI simple communications controller, and I have no audio. Drivers galore have been downloaded. I'm at my wits end here.

PCI simple communications controller = MODEM Dialup variety.

Have you actually ENABLED the sound in BIOS ??

Also all your drivers are available from MSI Support!!

My guess is the same, sound disabled in bios.

See the manual for how to enable it(should be under integrated peripherals), it can be downloaded from the link provided.

[edit]
Did the 4 in 1's install or give a similar error?

Well to be quite honest, I know how to access BIOS, but I haven't the foggiest as to how to enable or disable the audio. If you could let me know..?

So, it turns out that it was disabled in the BIOS. And now it shows that there is new hardware to install and also a multimedia icon in my hardware. Now my question is, where do I go from here? Just try to install the above drivers mentioned? Anyways. Thanks guys for all the help. I'd still be in tears at 4 am moping and trying to find a new computer.

You beat me to it, yep just install the above drivers again and it should detect the hardware this time.

Ok,

Since you know how to enter the bios I will skip that part.

Once in the bios you will have about ten or so option one of which should be "integrated peripherals" navigate to it using the arrow keys and press enter.

You will now be at another menu screen, press the down key until an option named "ac '97 audio" is selected. The column next to this option should state the mode the device is in. If the mode is set to disabled or auto(just to be sure) hit enter and select enabled. If no menu pops up after hitting enter press either the page up or page down keys until the option is enabled.

Now press the esc key and you will return to the main menu. Navigate to "exit and save changes" and at the prompt select yes(to save changes).

If the option was already enabled then "exit without saving changes"

Just be a little careful to not upset any thing else, if you accidentally do and can't remember what it was set to you can always exit without saving and try again.
