sound is gone..drivers wont install

somehow the sound just disappeared off of my computer..after searching for the drivers for it...and installing it...it still isnt working....im on an emachine 433i....Crystal CS4280 3D PCI Audio...and thats the sound card....help me plz?! :-\

Hi first go into control panal/systems/device manager is there any yellow flags? double click on the sound item and be sure at bottom of new window the box that say disable in this profile is not checked. Be sure you do not have the audio Mute button on. "happend to me once" does any sound work or does it say, work from cd but not hdd music. its very possible the sound card or speakers are bad. be sure speakers are pluged in correcty and if it has a power switch it is on. If you can connect headphones into sound card out to test speakers.

my speakers are fine...its like anything that has to deal with sound on my computer is just gone....i went into the control panel and theres nothing in there even that has to do with sound....that lil volumn control at the bottom is gone also...?

Windows for some reason say there is not a sound card. It may need reseted or it is bad would be my guess. I suppose it could be turn off in bios setup. I would suggest reposting in the hardware forum, you will likely get more help then here.
