IE and sounds had no relations.Try to be connect to the web and run the driver update wizard.Also try uninstall the sound driver and reboot to see if the OS can search for the right driver.Try to see if there any conflicts on your device and look for a yellow ? mark.If there a Yellow mark ru the update wizard.
