I have a Dell Desktop 2400, and the sound stopped working the other day. I have an integrated SoundMax sound deal, and I uninstalled the driver from the device manager, and installed it through the Drivers & Utilities Disc that came with my computer when I got it two years ago. It installed the driver fine, but still no sound came out. I went to Dell's website and downloaded the driver for it off of their after uninstalling the one from the disc, and it still did not produce any sound. Nothing is muted.
What could be the problem? Thanks.

Just a suggestion: try sticking to your original post in General Hardware - as you may have noticed by now, multiple posts over the same issue are often deleted
