Reply: (edit)To play DVD's you need software like PowerDVD installed. To burn DVD's you need software like NERO6 installed, if the drive is not recognised by the burning software you need an updated version. Windows of this vintage does not require specific drivers, is the drive recognised in BIOS ??

Reply: (edit)I have the same DVD-RW drive (DW-Q28A) and i also need the drivers and don´t know where to find them. I´ve recorded a double layer DVD and neither this drive nor my other DVD-ROM will read it, it´s like i put a blanc DVD in. I´ve been told i need to update the device´s drivers, but where do i get them?? (looked ALL over)

Reply: (edit)I have this drive also. I have tried to burn a audio cd with it. It keeps showing in the properties that it is just a cd rom but if you go into the hw. It is the dvdrw. I am about fed up with this. I want to burn a audio cd. I have used...Ashampoo and Honestech cd dvd burning sw. Ashampoo tells me that I do not have a cd burner. I have tried using cdrw and cdr. My power dvd does not see it as a dvd also. I have been looking for firmware updates and have found nothing. Please let me know what you all know that might be able to help me out here. I am sick of it. Is there any possible way that this is just a dvd burner and not a cd burner also. I work for Dell computers and I have never seen this unless the hw was bad.
