Comment: I have installed a sony cd-rw crx1611 on my comp, I am running windows me, but the system only recognises it as a cd rom not a cd-rw, so I cannot use the burner, has someone got drivers. I have tried all the sony sites unsuccessfully, and tried all of the driver sites I could find on the net, also unsuccessfully...

Reply: (edit)You need packet writing software, which enables to use your drive as CD-RW. Otherwise, it is simply a CD-R drive.
The one that came with the Sony 1611 was called abcsomething, dont remember the name right now.
I ve used that soft with my 1611 with no problems at all.
