But, I'm still working on restoring the sound. Do you have sound drivers? Reply: (edit)I just removed win ME and installed 98. The machine had a ESS chip on the sound card. So we loaded ESS 1989 driver from a web site and it worked fine. Now we can't seem to find a video driver. If you know where I can get that, that would be nice.

Reply: (edit)I had same problem when I installed Windows 2000 professional. My sound card stopped working and display looked awful.
Presario 5000 uses Soundmax digital audio device and S3 graphics Prosavage chip set.
If you want I can send the drivers.
Better way is go to http://www.compaq.com/support/files/deskpro/us/download/13420.html
and download the driver for 2000/98/xp.
For prosavage driver go to www.s3graphics.com and download Prosavge drivers for 2000/98/me/xp.
These drivers are cool.
